Mrs.King English 1A 19 August 2017 This I Believe Motivation means to have a desire or willingness to do something. This I believe. Well, that’s just what I had my junior year and senior year of high school, motivation. It was the end of my junior year of high school. Junior year is supposed to be considered as the hardest year of your high school career, which it very much was for me. I was struggling to pass certain classes before the end of the year, I was never the best in math, and I was a junior taking geometry. Well I didn’t pass geometry my junior year, so I had to take summer school in order to do so. Another six weeks of waking up everyday, at six am, to go back to school in order to pass the class. After the six weeks of summer school. I enjoyed whatever summer I had left and then Senior year came around. A week into my Senior year, my counselor had called me down to her office to speak with me about how I was going to be able to graduate. She told me that I was missing a certain number of credits in order to graduate and without those credits, I wouldn’t. She told me that I had to take two online elective courses, makeup my junior year english class by taking night school, and pass all 6 of my classes that I am currently enrolled in as a Senior in order to graduate. So from August twenty-sixth to the end of december, I had to pass six courses, a night school class, and one out of the two online electives before the end of 2016. Somehow I just said to myself, “just get It done and it will all be worth it in the end”. With all that I had to do in order to graduate high school, I was also playing my drums at a lot of events such as wedding receptions and birthday parties on the weekends. In the midst of these events I was also trying to keep up with homework assignments and projects towards the end of the year. Most of the times I wouldn’t come home from these events until one or two in the morning. Somehow, I had the motivation to get up out of bed every morning to go to school with only about five or six hrs of sleep. Motivation is a major key to being successful everyday of my life. I believe that I have grown by wanting to be motivated in order to accomplish all of my goals. Being motivated is what drives me to want to continue with what I do and better myself each and everyday. As tired as I may be the night before, I will always find a way to be motivated and productive in order to succeed. If it wasn’t for me, mentally preparing myself in the beginning of my senior year of high school, I wouldn’t be where I am today in college. The belief of motivation has helped me realize that success isn’t something that just happens over night. It depends on how much time and effort I am willing to put into being successful. This I believe. |
